So I have a leaking steering rack on my new to me 2000 GV. I've read about a suggestion to pull the tie rod and use plummers tape and reconnect, is that worth trying? Or should I find a used or refurb unit?
I'm half tempted to swap in a 1st gen steering box, but don't believe my fab skills are quite up for it yet...
Thanks,

I'm currently looking around for a seal kit for my 2001 GV steering rack as well. I am getting a small leak out of the top section of the rack where the flexible steering column connects to it. Right under the dust cap there.
There are two star type nuts that is holding in the top section, not sure if it is DIY serviceable.

There are no spare parts for that assembly, apart from the tie rod ends and rubber boots, so it is not intended to be serviced, but if you have access to a selection of seals......
