Title: St. Joe, MO to Ft. Lee, VA
Post by: ASI H8 on December 18, 2010, 05:48:28 AM
This isn't going to happen until April sometime but there is a ton of stuff that I want to get done on my rig before I set out.

I have been collecting parts for a 1.6L 16v engine swap.  I need to find a starter, fuel pump to make it go.

While I have the motor out I'm going to change clutch plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing.  I have all those items now.

Another thing on the list is a GM alternator.  I don't know what one to get.

Does anyone have a point of contact around Ft. Lee?

Thanks for serving.

Ft. Lee is outside Alexandria/Springfield?

Off-Camber Crawlers (OCC) is a club I started back in 97 for any 4wd mfr in the DC metro area. They have a website. Not much wheeling other than out in the VA mnts. Look for events out by Gore, VA. I think there are 2 events a year there now. Lots of turn out for them so register early. There is Baltimore 4-Wheelers but that's a little travel time (reason I started OCC) and back in 89-98, they were a fun group.
If towards Richmond, look for VA 4WDA.

Off-Camber Crawlers (OCC)?  I'll have to look them up.  Thanks for the information.
Ft. Lee is south of Richmond on 95 (also 295 I think), east of Colonial Heights, northeast of Petersburg  Around that area.  Are you still in the area?

Moved from Springfield, VA in 98 to KC metro. Settled in Lenexa.
OCC (http://www.offcambercrawlers.org/) is around the DC Metro area.

Since you are relocating to the Richmond area, look into VA4WDA (http://va4wda.org/). Their club listing (http://va4wda.org/clubs.htm) for easier search of something local.
Big Dogs Offroad (http://www.bigdogsoffroad.com/index.html) is the name of the coordinator for the Grove, VA events and they have more events during the year. It was started back in the early 90s from 3 co-clubbers and BDO really grew.
