I recently bought an 87 soft top Samurai for mild off roading. The rear tailgate rattles badly. I attempted to adjust the striker and latch to draw the thing in tighter. However there doesn't seem to be any adjustment allowed. Both the striker and latch are fixed in position with no adjustment slots.
What's the usual fix if there is one?
Thanks much

Two things to look for that I have done. First check and see if the rubber stop is there above the latch mounted to the body. If it is loosen the screw and rotate it. They have a tendency to become flat after a long period of the tailgate resting in on spot. Second check the tailgate hinges, make sure the screws are tight. Good way to check tailgate for hing wear, is open tailgate grab bottom end by door handle and wiggle it up and down. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting this! I keep forgetting this!!! Mine does the exact same thing. I will give this a shot if the temps get above 0 in the next few days. Well shucks.... I will probably do it anyway! whats a little short term cold air anyway?
