What flywheel did you use? Zuki or Isuzu?
I would think that the Samurai starter would be a better fit
on the trans bell housing

it has zuk starter and flywheel that has been redrilled and cut .on crank side motor .i have replace starer 3 times groud motor block and starter for alignment.replaced flywheel ring . cut starter nose to sink further toward flyheel . i think it needs smaller dia sstarter . thanks for all the info i have been working on this for months. thanks bugman

My bad, I was thinking the Suzuki starter was on the trans bell housing,
the starter is in fact on the engine side. I change my statement, I think
you should be using the Isuzu starter so it matches the block and is the
right depth to reach the ring gear.
But I have to admit, I don't recall ever seeing an Isuzu Starter so I don't
know how it compares to a Suzuki one
