i think the answer is no, but i will leave it to the pro's.
can the ecm for a '92 geo tracker MANUAL be put into a '93 geo tracker AUTOMATIC without issue? what would the issues be? thank you very much

Afaik, you are right; no... but...
Afaik, the manual/auto Ecm difference in those years is only that the auto Ecm has the TCC circuit.
You could put a switch & manually lock/unlock the TCC with it. Might be a pita for road driving.
I've read of guys doing that so they can lock the TCC on hill descents for better engine braking.
I think it was ebewley who mentioned it here before.
Hey Eric, what's it take to do this?
I'm curious too, I'd like to do it for road travel. I find some uphills I want to unlock the TCC but not have the pedal on the floor. If I let off it locks & I lose momentum. Sorry sounds sorta off topic. Maybe I'll start a post on it. (Mine's OBDII & the TCC circuit is different too.)

I have fixed a bunch of ECMs and I believe the manuals are missing at least 1 transistor and related components. Jim

MT ECUs have different software so its not just a case of fitting any missing components.

There you have it mypocketsrfull, & from two guys who know ECMs way better than me!
Thanks for the info redidbull & Rhinoman. :)

thank you very much guys, that is kind of what i had thought, but it is definitely better to KNOW for sure. my next question is what other years for automatic trackers will work in a '93 auto? or are they all pretty much the same? i know ultimately its not the best idea to use an ecm from a junkyard, however new ones are too expensive, and i am still not 100% sure it is the ecm that is my problem (though pretty sure because we have had all kinds of wierd electrical problems and when i put the ecm from the manual in it started up even though it wouldnt start before that) thanks again guys

Maybe it needs new capacitors? Pretty common problem in that era. FYI, redibull is pretty well known among the people who can repair them. I don't know him personally, just from reading on other sites, but maybe shoot him a PM & ask. G/l with it.

Actually, the manual ECM can be ran in your auto tracker. But, it will run kinda funny and I recall that the TCC won't lock up. But for testing purposes, you could do it....I wouldn't recommend running in long term though.
