Post by: JDMCRX on June 07, 2004, 11:44:32 AM
Hey guys im making my order over at rocky road i ordered the 1 1/8 coil spacers and the lock rite rear locker. Im thinking of gettin the 2" body lift just wondering how this kit is. Is it any good or junk. My truck is a 92 with a bit of rust.

damn near anything u buy from rocky road will not be crap...same for calmini..some people just like different kits

like the calmini 3" bl has u doing a bit of welding...the 2" i dont think u do

if it were me id do the 3+3 calmini kit..which is what im doing since my bl is a few days from my front door =)

as long as you aren't looking for articulation.  coil spacers sure dont offer much in terms of an improved suspension system.  more like a glorified body lift

If you go to this site http://www.k9rdj.co.uk/ and look in Other Vitaras under Duane Irwin there is some pics of how well mine flexed when I had only 2" coil spacers and stock springs.

I did the 2" RRO bodylift.  I like it and it was pretty easy to install, no welding.

straight-forward for you if you're handy, or easier for your mechanic if you're lazy - a good buildup on the iZook website.
photos of my spacers fitted on the K9RDG website previously referred to, under the "other Vitara's - Chris Elliot" link
a simple modification to l/hand front brake line is required, which any mechanic can handle.
definately get the shifters extended - again  a mechanic can remove them and a fabricator can extend them - see previous posts - don't think you can just alter the appatures!! it's never going to be satisfactory - once they are extended the car feels and drives the same

why not a calmini 3in?  their is a little welding and what not but you get an extra inch of clearence.

The 2" in bl lift will work with out extending the shifters.  Here in Japan they sell shifter extentions that you can just screw on to your normal shifter to make it longer.  I have driven with out the extention and have had no problem.

Hey Spence
I loved the way it sat with the spacers and body lift, only problem was that it made me want more. ::) The spacers are from a heep and I got them off a guy on bc4x4. I have a couple pics around here somewhere but I'm too puter illiterate to post so I'll send them to you when I find them.

How is it possible to add articulation without longer coils, shocks, struts, or longer control arms?  ???
