Title: 95 geo Tracker questions?
Post by: Brockey on January 15, 2011, 12:07:35 AM
Hey, just bought a 16 valve 1995 Tracker. She is a five speed that roars in every gear. Bad vibes. Now I have 2 91's, sidekicks. Can I swap the automatic tranny from one of them in to the 95? Is the auto computer the same as the 95 16 valve standard one? I would like the auto so the woman can drive it.

We bought a 1994 Sunrunner a fews ago aswell. I will have to take some pics and post them up.

Now the funny. Drove 1 hour to get the tracker in my integra that I have a small fortune into. Paid $400 for the tracker. Had to replace the alternator and drove it home. The integra broke down half way home and had to go on the wrecker so I drove the Tracker the rest of the way home. Funny the $400 machine is more reliable. Fuel pump gave out in the car. :(

Dang, are you fixing the Integra or writing it off as a loss?

The computers are different between the 91 and the 95, even though they are both ODBC I.  You will need to do a lot of work to adapt the transmission over, I would look at rebuilding the manual on the 95 first.  It shouldn't take to much, as they are pretty easy to work on.  Just a pain to install.

So you have 4 kicks now?  Nice.  :)

Ya the integra is in my buddies garage getting fixed. My 78 Blazer is there on the finals of her rebuild aswell.
The tracker has given me grief aswell. The idle arm bracket broke off the other day. Now I need to take one off one of the others or find a new one. :(
So right now I am driving my 90 S10 Blazer that I am selling.

4 door trackers are common around here so can I use a auto computer from one of them on my 95 with an auto tranny. I have spare 5 speeds but would like auto so my woman can drive it.

You can bolt in the auto from the 91 and hookup a vacuum line, shifter, cooler and go. I did it on mine. The computer has nothing to do with the 3 speed tranny. The added bonus is you can upsize your tires as your gearing will be lower and still be in stock powerband.

ECU usually (always?) controls the lock-up relay on the 3-speed
