Title: anyone done a yj spring under on a samurai?
Post by: airmanwilliams on January 16, 2011, 05:00:39 PM
currently I have a 3" spring under lift with deavers and 31" tires but I have a buddy that has a yj kit,not sure if its missing links or not, and im contemplating doing a yj spring under. The reason to keep it spring under is that I dont want to put larger tires on and its a daily driver right now. Will this give me much more lift? should I just stick with the deavers or go ahead and do the yj's? Any input guys?

Rocky roads JP-eater yj spring under gives you  2.5" over stock.

Yeah, you will very likely lose a little lift going from 3" lifted springs to YJs.  My YJs gave me around 2" or so of lift.  Of course you could mix and match some YJs with some pickup leaf packs (like from an S10) and probably make up some packs that give you about 3" of lift over stock.

how much is average for a yj spring over give you? the only reason for not going spring over is that this is mainly a daily driver and dan at lowrange told me that if I go spring over I would lose some stability and I dont want anything larger than 31's until I can afford an engine swap and possibly done with school.

Well, the spring over alone will give you 4+ inches.  If you add YJs on top of that, that will be around 6" total.
If I were you, I'd just leave it alone for now.

JP-eater SPOA=7.5".You could just get 2" lifted yj springs, that would give you a 4.5" lift, only 1.5" more then you have now.
