Im thinking of getting a Lockright for my Tracker. How do I know if I need the side couplers? Does anyone who runs one have any coments or suggestions?
-
You don't need side gears,
just get the Locker it will be
fine.
BTW Lockers will open your
eyes to the way you used to
wheel
;D

Actually I have a Scout 800 with lockers front and rear so I've allready "seen the light" Ive only been holding off because of winter driving up here. What do the couplers do?

What do the couplers do?
Well, they COUPLE...  ::)
A couple of couplers will couple a couple of gozintos to a couple of comezoutas...
You know, the driveshaft gozinto the diff, and the axles comezouta the diff, to the wheels...

I was hoping for a little more technical explination. although I think that is how my wife would describe them too. :P :P :P :P :P

Arent the couplers the same thing as the side gears?

LOL ROFLMAO,
That is the technical explanation,
you just need to understand Bobzooki
definitions to understand this extremely
technical explanation
;)

FWIW: Use the Suzuki stock side gears and the Lockright for using the stock sidegears. If you're stock sidegears are too worn, very unlikely, order a new set from Suzuki. It's been my experience that the lockers that use the factory sidegears work way better and are stronger than the lockers that use aftermarket side couplers...
Good Luck, Eric

Thanks thats the info I was looking for. I guess these Lockrights must be very different than the ones I have seen before where you replace the sidegears as part of the locker. Ya know like the picture that everyone shows

ditto, and how much did you $ with shipping. i am getting these in about a month. how about posting your instal with some pics :D
-
Stu:
I got it from Calmini. I know they cost a little more from there but I wanted FedEx.
Stomper:
It was $272 w/shipping thats two day guaranteed. Ill try to take some pics as I install it but it will most likely be a couple weeks before I put it in.
-
the lockright comes with an install manual with pics, read the manual and follow the instructions to the letter and you will be ok.side gears are usually ok.ive not had to buy new ones, there are pics in the manual showing side gears in different states of wear.it really is a good install manual.
-
Yeah ordered mine today from rocky road

you'll love it mate once you get used to driving with one (i assume its going into the rear diff).....the first day or two is interesting though ;D
-
Well I have driven with a locke before as I stated before but thanks for the input. It came today so I may leave work early to go home and put it in. How long does it take?
-
For a Kick. 2-3 hours, sammy you have to remove
the brakes to get the axle out :P
I would suggest replacing the sammy axle/bearing
retainers with SideKick ones so you can remove the
axle without pulling brakes, could make trail fixes a
little easier should you snap an axle out there.
