Did the 8274 work before you disassembled it?  More importantly, will it work properly once reassembled?
My brother might be interested in it, so I'll check with him, while I am waiting for a reply.
Thanks.
Oh, what exactly are you looking for in the way of sidekick goodies?
And I know it is just a bunch of parts....but got any pics?

Yes it worked fine before, I tore down a perfectly good winch and give up on it. It's what I do LoL

And I suppose if it's not put back togeather properly it will not work. That's kinda out of my hands.

As for kick goodies....anvil,calmini lift components,t/case gears,sliders.....?

Well yeah, I was meaning if it got put back together properly. :P
I don't have any of those kick goodies.
I'm still waiting to hear back from my bro.  I'll give him a call here shortly and get an answer.

Talked to my bro....
Does it come with the cable?  Is the cable in good shape?
Does it have the roller fairlead with it?
Does it have the remote with it?

no cable
no fairlead
yes it has remote.

I do have a brand new cable and roller fairlead I could sell too but to ship these items would hardly be worth it after shipping costs. IMO

Ok, the cable isn't a big deal....he has one he could use.
Isn't the fairlead kinda specific to these winches (the drum is narrower than most, so it takes a narrower fairlead)?
Can you get me some pics of all the pieces/parts?
I'll PM you about shipping.

You can check to see if the fairlead you have fits the winch, but he thought the 8274s took a narrower fairlead.  Just let me know, when you get a chance.
Thanks.

FWIW...I used a regular old roller fairlead from a Superwinch on my 8274....it worked fine so I would assume any fairlead will work just fine. And even disassembled...that's a smoking deal on that winch!

Ok.  Well, I don't know about the roller fairlead size.  My bro, just said that he thought that it took a narrower one than common....so I was just following up.  Thanks for the info.
Yeah, I think if we can get it shipped reasonably, I think it is a decent price.  I have ran across a few, complete with the roller fairlead and cable, in the 3-400 range.  But I have no desire to own one, because they are so big.

If you should happen to part one of these out I would be interested in the control box / controller. I also have an extra 8000 lb fairlead I would sell if someone buys your winch and needs one.

okay new too the whole winch thing, but chain hoisting a car or what ever onto my trailer is a PITA and pulling a car out of a mud hole is and even bigger pain. so 12k, is that rolling weight or dead weight? why tear something apart if it was working fine? are these hard to put back together like a transmission having to get everything loaded right or it will explode? when you say rebuild what would you suggest needs to be done before it is put back together? Is the fair lead the piece that centers the cable on the spool? what does the winch weigh for shipping reasons and if I mount it on a receiver so I can put it on anything?? as far as cable or rope what size should I look for and how many feet can spool up on there?

I will try to answer all of these Q's;

12K would be dead weight I suppose. other wise if your referring to a 12k lb rig rolling would not offer 12k in resistance. (this was one of the largest winches offered on the commercial market for years (decades).

I took it apart because it was starting to corrode and get ugly looking and the rig it was going on it had to be perfect.

they are very easy to rebuild it really only needs a gasket kit. and everything has to be put together correctly (right)

it weighs about 70-80 lbs

I would use synthetic rope (7/16 maybe) safer, lighter, etc. might fit 100' or a bit more.

it could go on a multi mount but would be pretty heavy.

fairlead: the 4 roller guide that assists the cable onto the drum. (not used with rope)

did I get 'em all? :sleepy:

I dont know what to do. i would like to get your 16 valve and winch, but just started redoing brakes on my trailer. after new backing plates, bearings, seals, brake drums, for 4 hubs and breakaway kit and complete relighting too. I am running out of money fast. interested in any trades? I will call when I get the chance tomorrow probably.

Let me be clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   this is not a brand new winch it does need a rebuild. MAYBE just gaskets maybe not. you are getting a used electrical device that is possibly decades old. it is 200 bucks to allow you room to fix it and have a great winch at a still better than new price!
