Here are the rules for the 2011 season. Other than a fuel cell requirement there were only minor changes. The file is attached below and you must be logged on to view/download it. Please use this thread for discussion / Q&A about all spec compliance and regulation.
Thanks, Eric

How far out side the box can we build using the rule book as a guide? Like drop the straight axle on a Sammy and use Sidekick spindles to build our own suspension design. since the samurai can be built coil or leaf

Yes, this would be allowed. Don't forget to include in your design the use of the spindle mounts. This is the cast steel piece that the strut and the lower ball joint bolts to. If you use from there out from a Suzuki, you'd be legal as far as parts are concerned. Of course there is wheelbase and frame modification specifications to keep in mind too.

Eric I got a quick question. You have to use the stock dash I know, but can I modify the area where the airbag used to be on the passenger side to house secondary gauges? I know it says after market gauges in any area but I was thinking of making a gauge pod there. It would change the shape significantly.

Yes, you can mount some guages in there but take extra care not to create any sharp edges or protrusions that could cause injury. If your gauge pod has anything that resembles a 90 degree corner or hard edge sticking out, it won't pass.
Thanks for the question.

Roger. I had in mind a nice rounded pod similar to what is in the drivers side. We shall see if it happens though.

So what class is this form of racing? I was looking at the VORRA rules for classes
and didn't really see where our trucks would fit in, or would this be a new class
just for us?

We're running our own class.

A vehicle that meets the majority of class requirements... but lacks a factory dash and steering wheel... 100% not eligible to race or could this be put to vote amongst competitors at a given event?

It sounds like you've got a vehicle that is very close to competition ready. Would you send me an email? ebewley|removethispart|@zukiworld.com I'd like to talk with you about next season.
Thanks, Eric

I hate to break it to you, but you might find it hard to race without a steering wheel.
