I thought that all samurais after 1989 were EFI, but my buddy just looked at mine and told me it's carbeurated? im super lost now....mostly because I know nothing about engines...im trying to do the 1.6 16 valve swap and was wondering if i need a fuel pump or not since mine isn't EFI? And if the Trail tough kit fuel pump will do the job, or if i have to actually swap out my fuel tank with one that already has a pump in it? any help is greatly appreciated...thanks

All 90 and up samurais came from the factory as EFI. Someone may have had issues with the EFI and swapped a carb onto it. Or they may have swapped some VINs around and the VIN/title "says" it is a 90, when really it is an 86-89. One way to tell is to compare the frame VIN (outside of frame, behind right front tire) and the dash VINs...most people don't go to the trouble of swapping both the frame and the VIN on the dash, when they swap VINs....they just swap the dash VIN, because it is easier.
Also could be that your buddy is wrong. Some people mistake the TB (throttle body) for a carb. Post a pic of your engine and we can tell you whether it is EFI or carbed.

I talked to the nice folks at trail tough today and they told me the same thing....someone swapped my dash out, it is really and early 88 acording to the frame vin
