Title: Question on thread pitch for the PCV valvle
Post by: jweese on February 18, 2011, 07:47:24 PM
I am trying to put in a new pcv valve in my 86 and can't get the new one to thread in.  I need to tap the hole in the intake but i don't know what tap to get.  I've tried 14/1.5mm die and it seemed a lttle loose on the old valve threads so then I tried a 1/4 18 NPT thread thinking it might be a pipe thread and the die is too small.   >:(  Does anyone know what tap and die to use for that?  It's the last thing I need to get the vehicle running good.

Try giving Hawk Suzuki or Low Range a call, they might know off hand.  If I need to find a thread I'll usually go to a hardware store and just start trying out random nuts until I find one that fits.

THat's what I did.  Two trips to the automotive store and one to home depot.  I believe it's a 1/4 NPT but I want to make sure before I go tapping into the intake manifold. ???
