Title: How many miles do you get out of a full tank with your sidekick sport?
Post by: tuesdaysgone on February 19, 2011, 09:36:46 PM
I'm a bit concerned that my sidekick sport auto is pretty heavy on gas.  I wish I had got a manual.  How many miles do you guys get?

Doesn't the sport have a 15 gallon fuel tank?

Lets get some real numbers here. Not miles per tank miles per gallon. Miles driven divided by gallons used. Best to do this with 3 tanks of gas to get a good average. Now what engine? That makes a difference. Here is mine 1995 geo tracker 2d soft-top 4WD  1.6l 16valve California emissions. Mine is getting about 26mpg. I think it could be better if I did a little tune up,but 25-30mpg is about what you can expect with the 1.6l.

The best I ever got with my 97 Sport bone stock was 26-27mpg. After the lift and 31's it was 12.5 on a regular basis.

All sidekick sports have the 1.8L DOHC engine.  They will not get the MPG that the 1.6 16Vs do.  Just another reason I prefer the 1.6 over the 1.8.  Plus, the auto tranny will be a couple of MPG less than the 5 speed.

My 98 Sidekick 4 dr 2wd, 5 speed is getting 29 - 30 mpg, it has AC manual windows, no cruise 58,000 original miles.
