Hey heather, I have one more idea, do you have an oil pressure gauge?
I wonder if the same thing happened to your oil pump that caused me
to blow the turbo in Moab, low oil pressure from a stuck blow off valve.

Once the oil gets warm the pressure drops and causes a rod to get noisy

Nah, I don't, just the stock idiot light. And it's developed this other lower knock after I shot the video. I think at this point the inconsistent tapping in the video is the intake (an injector probably), but now it's got something noisier... it's possible you're correct, though, since it only does it when warm, maybe it is the oil pump. Well, maybe that means it's an easier fix for someone who wants to buy this truck.

I'm going to let it sit on the market for a bit, if it doesn't sell, I'll probably go that route I suppose, but I'm going to give it a chance for now.

EDIT:

Well, Darin (I hope I spelled that right, it's been so long!  :P), I'm gonna go ahead and give this oil pressure gauge a shot this weekend, and see if that's what it is. An oil pressure gauge is a fairly cheap diagnostic tool. Thanks for the advice.

Bump... $3250 or reasonable offer.

I still have yet to install that oil pressure gauge, I bought one, but got carried away with family stuff over the weekend. I'll install it in the next couple of days.

Forgot to mention that it comes with a towbar, could be easily hooked up and taken home. It tracks fine with it.

Have a friend that I showed this to today. He's got a Yukon Denali to sell and he'll be all over this.

We're here out in KC metro area.

That's cool... but the truck's in Boise, ID, not sure if you knew that?  ??? Sorry, I probably also should have posted that for those folks that can't see my profile.

For those folks looking for updates on the oil pressure gauge and results, I'm still working on it, I got it mostly set up, except I had to order an adapter. Our oil sender holes in the engine blocks take a 1/8" BSPT fitting, not a 1/8" NPT fitting which is what seems to come with most oil pressure gauge kits.  ::)

Heather,

Are you now done with rock crawling off-roading trips?

Don.

Ok, so... I got the gauge installed, and we're sitting at about 55-60psi when cold at idle, then after a drive to get some burgers, 20-22psi when hot. From what I've read, this appears normal?

Hmm...

Well, at least there's that.

FWIW, we're $3000 now or reasonable offer.

Sounds about right on oil pressure. Have you looked at your cam bearing for signs of any lateral movement? Could cause knocking sounds. But, it really sounds like your just ready to move on to something else.

Well then blame the noise on piston slap, these engines do that after the miles
are on them, it's not dangerous, just annoying

Uhm... it picked up a different knock than what's in the video that I put up here a while back.  ::) I don't know if it was something I did when I was doing the valve lash, I don't quite see how, but knowing my luck...  :-X

I'll take video of it and put it up in a bit.

And please, guys, feel free to make an offer. Nate even said we could deliver probably up to ~300 miles.

Heather

Looks like I can't delete the first post to remove the thread, can a mod do this for me? Thanks.
