Anybody know what this is? it doesnt really connect to the valve cover...its just sitting there...did i break something?

Looks like a broken PCV valve.

Ditto above. Pull it out with a pair of pliers and go purchase a new one...

Yep, PCV valve is what it is.  And it isn't supposed to come apart like that.

replaced it today....thanks for the help
