Title: New Sami owner. Advice on a New Header
Post by: ethienes on March 07, 2011, 03:15:48 PM
So I am a proud owner of an 87 Samurai all stock and I was wanting to get a more power out of my 1.3L. Anyone have any advice on Headers Calmini or Thorley? The Thorley is quite a bit more money but are they that much better?

Welcome, The Thorley Header is 50 state smog legal, otherwise there about the same. I always used Thorley cause I live in CA. ;D

I would go Thorley.

I've been running one with a 2.25" exhaust for 9 years - first on a 1.3 then on a 1/6 8-valve (G13 head) with good success!

Cool thanks yeah I in Oregon so not to worried about the smog thing plus poor college student so the hundred bucks makes a difference. That's why I was wondering if it was a hundred buck in quality or just name. Thanks for the replys

man I miss oregon and not having to work about safety or emissions testing(grew up in tillamook). I have the thorley headers and like them minus the fact that the o2 sensor only reads 2 cylinders and not all 4 but still a good header and with all the people out in oregon you should be able to find a used one locally.

Unless you upgrade everything you will not be able to feel the difference. If you want to save money stay with the stock exh manifold. ;)
