Title: Rear Differential Carrier Seal
Post by: volksie on March 07, 2011, 05:38:03 PM
Hi all... new to this site, forum, and the samurai! i recently purchased an 86 hard top and LOVE IT! I have a couple of issues right away that i need to address and am hoping for some good direction/advice

my transfer case and my rear differential are leaking. it appears that the tc is leaking from the rear seal and i seams pretty straight forward repair, but my rear differential seems to be leaking from the carrier seal. is this a straight forward repair? can i just pull the rear carrier out and put a new seal on and bolt it back it?

any advice on this would be greatly appreciated, along with suggested mods or upgrades/improvements that i can make while i'm in there...

thanks in advance!

Yep, just use some grey silicone seal made for gear oil.
