Title: Overhead speakers
Post by: pup1286 on March 11, 2011, 06:57:04 AM
My 94 unfortunately did not come with any speakers or a stereo.

I sortof miss the days where i could listen to some heavy tunes rampaging through the rock gardens. So i need this problem resolved.

Does anyone have any pictures of their set ups? I've been toying with the idea of attaching an over head set similar to a heep? Anyone have any experience in that?

I believe the most common swap is to put some 6x9 speakers in the back next to the seats.  Usually people either cut out a spot on the existing paneling or install new paneling along the back.  As for in the overhead, it shouldn't be all that hard.  Just follow the wires for the overhead light.

Hey Pup....

Check out my install. Yes it is crude but I can blast out my eardrums and chicks dig guys with broken eardrums!

These are two garage sale speakers that are hose clamped to the overhead roll bar. They are back enough that my head does not hit them. They are basic speakers measuring 6X9 inches. They are not "outdoor" speakers but they have taken a beating for years and they still sound great. I just zip tied the wires up the roll bar to the speakers. As far the the actual stereo, I leave that up to you. However, I do like the feature that mine has with a front input jack for my smartphone Pandora Radio app.  :)
