Title: What are these tubes for???
Post by: wvscotsman on March 12, 2011, 04:17:13 PM
So I am putting an aftermarket air filter on. I need some help identifying what these vacuum tubes operate. I can always pipe them into the new filter pipe however if i can leave them off it would be a lot simpler.

One hooks to a place on the side of the engine the other you can see in the picture where it hooks to. I think the long tube i have circled is some kind of quick heat up pipe maybe??

That's for warm air to be pulled off of your exhaust manifold during engine warm up and really cold weather.

Do you need it?

Many don't have it anymore some do and it may depend on how cold it gets where you're at.

Hope that helps -Eric

i swapped in a short ram airintake awhile back and all I really kept was the tube from the intake manifold and pcv and tied those into the short ram. a few of my buddies take those hoses off and replace them with some short small performance filters from the autoparts store.

I wished I had kept those when I drove over the pass one winter. Carb kept icing up.
