not sure if this is the right place for this topic. i am trying to find a insurance company that will insure my truck as an offroad vehicle only kinda like the way you insure a snowmobile or a atv does anyone know any company that does this. thank you.

Insure it for what? Replacement or if you hit someone???
-
any reputable insurance company will sell you ins. for anything you want. you can insure your dog's health these days! the coverage would probably looked upon as hi risk and motor sports related so I imagine it would be extremely expensive. just get a regular comp/collision policy and turn it in if you pile it up I suppose.
all the insurance company's that I know of in my state (Oregon) are "no fault" when off improved roads. dont know if all states are alike. with that said I did insure my quads for like 8 bux a month for 2 of them. dont know how that would compare though.

I use State Farm and they allow me to keep my SJ insured in an 'inactive' state. I just let them know when I will be using it and they reactivate it for the weekend. It costs around 5 dollars a month.

Most all companies have a secondary (low use) policies. I have had these on vehicles through Progressive, State Farm, Allstate and Farmers. They are restricted by the mileage you put on your vehicle each year and will piggy back off of your main vehicles policy.

I piggyback my auto policy with homeowners and pay about $80
per month for 4 vehicles, including the Suzuki that I drive like 500
miles/year
-
the main reason i want it is in case i hit someone or roll it over and someone gets hurt so i am not paying out of pocket but i think i found a company that will insure it for liability off road use only for cheap.

if it works out for you and is reasonable post the contact info on here if 'ya would please.

I carry bodily injury, property damage & liability only on the Samurai. It costs me $76.00 a year with no milage limitations. I have a 76 Corvette that I have wht is defined as classic car which is full replacement cost, property damage, bodily injury, and liability with a 2 k milage resriction that cost $68.00 a year.
On all of my vehicles I only carry property damage, bodily injury, and liability as well as the required uninsured / under insured motorist. I only have full coverage on the older car because it is part of their deal. If everyone is required to have insurance I should be able to have my vehicle repaired if involved in an accident. I am also fortunite to be able to replace any of my vehicles if an accident occured. Likewise in most cases I would not want to repair them rather I would replace them anyway.
My insurance company is Farm Bureau. I like them because they are local and if I were to have a problem I can walk in and be face to face with a real live honest to goodness person and they will understand my needs at the point of our conversation. I have also known my agent since High School and he won't B/S me. 99% of how well your insurance can work for you is your agent. Bad agent=bad coverage.... Think about it... who do you want working for you? Somebody to whom your just a quota number. that doesn't know your needs personally, who is never going to see you, who could care less if you go or stay. Or, somebody who "you can reach out and touch" in a time of need that you can make your business more personal. After all they are "supposed" to be "working" for you.... your paying a portion of their salary.

I got $7,500 easily into my 88 Samurai with all the mods and paint job. So I registered mine as a "Hobbyist" vehicle in WI, similar to a classic car registration. Difference being the Hobbyist can be modified. I have a $10,000 value policy on mine just in case of theft or if someone hits me. Cost $300.00 per year.

How much do you think they will pay out if it gets stolen or someone hits you (total loss)? It won't be $10k. Having suffered the loss of an $80 K policy on a rental home due to fire I am painfully aware that policies written for and what they actually pay out are 2 entirely different concieved notions. My guess is that they would appraise your vehicle, depreciate that cost, and provide you a pay off for a similar vehicle in their defined appraisers value. But then I hope I am wrong!!!
