Title: FS or WTT - 1987 Samurai Project (ALMOST DONE!)
Post by: mtbr_mark on March 25, 2011, 12:09:21 PM
I have a 1987 Samurai project that is nearly done but with finishing a new house and a second baby on the way I just don't have the time to finish it. I've been hoping and hoping for the last couple years that time would suddenly come available, but amazingly, it just doesn't. So I think that I just need to put this out for someone who has the time to finish it and enjoy it.

What is has...
Completely rebuilt 22R with less than 1,000 miles on it
- Weber 32/36 Carb
- Header
Custom aluminum radiator
Electric fan thermostatically controlled w/ Painless system
Chevy 1-wire alternator
Optima Yellow-Top battery
Toyota 5spd transmission & T-Case
Toyota axles
- Front axle has been completely rebuilt
- High-steer arms
- DOM draglink and tie rod
- FJ80 tie rod ends
- Rear axle has been moved back 4.5"
Jeep YJ leaf springs all around
Shackle reversal up front
5.29 Ring and Pinion Gears
37x14.50 Toyo Mud Terrains on centerline aluminum wheels
Custom dash and gauges (mimicked the Petroworks aluminum dash. Used Equus gauges {speedo, tach, temp, volt, fuel, & oil)
Toyota power steering
Fuel cell
Custom front winch bumper, rear bumper, and 1-3/4" HREW rear tube fenders
Two soft tops (one is a 2-piece that covers the cab and the back seat separately, the other is a virtually brand new BestTop fastback top)
Summit Racing heater
New Summit Racing Ignition
Warn 8274 Winch (with or without depending on buying price or trade)

What it needs...
Plumbing finished (i.e. Fuel lines, brake lines {included but not installed}, drivelines, power steering lines)
Rear shocks installed (i have a set of Ranchos that come with it. Just hadn't installed them yet)
Tranny X-member to be built
As far as I know, if there's something that's needed to complete this vehicle, I HAVE IT AND IT COMES WITH IT.

Extra stuff included...
Stock third member (4.10 gears)
Complete EFI system (manifolds, fuel fail, sensors, wiring, computer, everything needed to convert it to EFI)
Extra set of aluminum wheels
Service Manuals for both Samurais and Toyotas
Several Toyota CV driveshafts to use in building shafts
Toyota flange adapter (let's you bolt any toyota shaft up)
There's more but this is what comes to mind right now
A couple FJ80 TRE's
Braided stainless steel brake lines
ARP studs for knuckles
Second hood

I'd love to trade this straight across for a Suzuki DRZ400SM in good running order. I'd be willing to sell it for $3500 without the winch, or $4200 with the winch but would really rather just find someone to trade for a bike. I'm not in any kind of financial trouble and needing to sell this to pay bills so please don't waste my time unless you really do have a mechanical inclination and are wanting to work something out. This isn't a difficult project, but you HAVE to know what you're doing (or at least have friends that do and a fridge full of drinks to keep them working). If you're interested in seeing it feel free to e-mail me through this ad or give me a call and we'll set up a time. (541)670-8096. My names Mark.

PRICE: Trade for DRZ400SM or $3500 (w/o winch), $4200 (w/ winch)
LOCATION: Roseburg, OR

Here's a Link to my build thread on P4x4 so you can see for yourself what's been done to it.

Here's a couple pics. 1) of how it sat with 22R in it, 33's, and samurai axles. 2) shows it with toy axles and 37's
