Just purchased a "90 tracker 2dr conv. 4x4. I'm trying to change the clutch. Any tips on getting to bolts and removing starter? The bolts seem really tight. could not crack them loose. Whats best way to remove clutch cable? Thanks in advance..

Just be careful and use a longer wrench for the task, penetrating oil might help, let it soak awhile and tap on it if you have a rust problem or just damn seized up.
I think I left the clutch cable mounted to the bracket attached to the engine block, and just took the nut off the end and slid it out of the end of the arm.
(mine is a 90 tracker also)

Been working slowly on the clutch. Took some stuff off the firewall to put a large jack handle on ratchet to break some bolts loose. Funny, once they cracked loose, they came out easy with 2 fingers. Know I'm having trouble getting drive shaft bolts out. Even though their not rusted, I sprayed them with PB-blaster. Hopefully tomorrow they will come loose. Then off to removing the starter.

Ok, got the tranny/transfer case out as a unite. Advice to anyone who hasn't done this, use an air impact gun to remove any stubborn bolt so they don't strip or break. Use very long extension to get to starter bolts and have plenty of metric wrenches and sockets handy.
Was wondering: Should the shaft out end of tranny be able to move up and down quiet a bit, or should it be tight? What kind of oil or grease goes in transfer case? Smells like 90w gear oil.

I use 80w/90w in both the t-case and transmission. Never had any issues.
