I need to replace my supplemental restraint components due to a fender bender that activated my passenger airbag. I pulled a dash from a 1997 Geo Tracker with airbags. Unfortunately, the wiring harness was cut in order to pull the dash by someone "helping" me. I went ahead and pulled the module/harness. I've been told that I need to match the module to the module (all components) with my vehicle. What do I need to do? HELP!!

I have not worked on a tracker system but ford's can be replaced indiviually as long as they are the correct ones for the vehicle. so as long as the airbag is the same[ crosses over] it can be installed in another, the same goes for the control module. THEY MUST BE FOR THE SAME VEHICLE/OPTION PACKAGE.usually a bodyshop or junkyard will have the crossovers for each vehicle.

The module and airbags should be a set so get them from one car. When the airbags go off you need to replace the module.
For the cut wires I would just solder them back together the system will do a diagnostic check and if the light does not stay on it should be good.

Yes I agree that the module and the set should be from the same car. its better to find it from a junkyard. Isnt there any method to match 2 different things from 2 different cars.

How do they do it at automotive repair shops? Replace the entire system whenever the airbags go off?

On ones I have worked on if any airbag deploys the control module must be replaced, along with any deployed airbags and if they have a seperate accelerometer[crash sensor] it may need replaced also. these do notcome as a matched set so they can be mixed and matched to a certain extent.
