Title: popping out of 4WD?
Post by: jookycola on June 02, 2004, 08:21:49 AM
first time i've ever had this happen.  but when i go into 4-hi and start driving off the faster i go the 4-wheel gear shifter hops around and then pops out of 4-hi.

then i tried it in 4-lo and it makes loud bumping noises.

is my transfer case finished?  my uncle said it may just need new gear oil.  either way it sucks just the same.

<edit>also i have auto locking hubs.  and when i got my new tires a week or two back i declined the alignment...figuring i'd get mt lift kit by now.  could my trackers 4-wheel drive be out of whack from lack of proper alignment?

mine poped out of 2WD because the boot was kinda messed up and the lever had a slight rub on the body.

Try getting a new shifter seat. $20

I agree with this, very common issue, it also can cause the the shifter to stick in 4wd of worse in neutral
