I recently have bought a 87 samurai with a 94 swift dohc gt (fuel injected) engine in it. I was driving and all of a sudden i put my foot to the floor and it would bog right down. Prior to this the fuel pump was getting fairly noisey. I suspected it was either the fuel pump or the fuel filter. I replaced the inline fuel pump (E8000) with an equivelant carter (P70199) inline pump, also a new filter. It is now worse off than before, it barelly even idles and bogs down when you give it throttle unless you go really easy on it, then it will rev up to about 4000rpm then bog right down. Can anyone tell me what i should look at next? Could it be a sensor? Where is the diagnostic computer port on these things? oh and the catalytic converter is making a pinging noise to now when you rev it up and let off the trottle.

The TPS could be faulty and the cat needs to be checked for a either a loose heat shield or a broken catalyst inside it.

My vote is for the Cat needing replaced

X2 on the cat convertor. remove the O2 sensor and try it[ will sound horrible :o] if it is better then the cat is clogged. :)
