Warn Industries has released a new set of entry-level winches. Called the VR Series (Vehicle Recovery), these winches are available in 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 lb. capacities. The VR8000 starts at $399 after $80 factory rebate.

For more information, visit http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/entry_level_series_winches.shtml (http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/entry_level_series_winches.shtml).

In addition, our other winches have gotten new upgrades including contactor control, redesigned control boxes, and new-and-improved remotes.

Wow am I glad too see warn do this! I think it's a essential move to compete in the modern marketplace. I think my shittybuilt will be getting replaced soon ;) thanks for thinking of the little guys warn!

Ever thought about a "trade-in" promo. Trade in a generic for a VR "very reasonable" for a 100 dollar credit or something ?? Just an idea to get some inferior winches off some rigs!

x2. That's super cheap for a 8000lb WARN winch. They both have he same gear ratio, just looked it up. I wonder what "frills" they eliminated to get us a more basic winch that more people need.

The M8000 has a different motor, different geartrain, and the new ones have contactor control vs. solenoids.

What is the cost for the contactor alone and is it easily mounted to an older Warn Tabor series?

This Promo caught me eye,
I currently have one of those best "Best Winch Made In China"  6,000 lb boxy looking units.
The only thing I like about this "Cheesy" unit is that I don't permanently mount my winch,
I have found that the "liberty" of hooking to ANY TOW POINT has got me out of some
REALLY STUPID IDEAS/DECISIONS!!

Not sure about this one. You could give our Customer Service a jingle, and they'd be able to help you out.
