93 Tracker 4wd, No AC, 1.6 8 Valve
Pulled motor to replace Rear Main Seal. Got it all back together, it runs, but the motor at idle wants to stall. Did not mess with the timing, but I double checked timing and it's correct.
The wire connector I pulled to the front of the motor and set it on top of the alternator for visibility. It has a Yellow and Red wire going to it and the connector is white. Anybody know what it goes to?

Also there is a check valve and I can't remember if it connects to anything? I think not, but it has a vacuum clamp on it, so it makes me question it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the yellow and red connector goes to the injector on my tracker. Just looked.
-
That's what I thought, but how could it be running???
Did you get the EGR and TBI switched by mistake???

start checking vacuum lines too. whats the one one in the pic? it doesn't look plugged. is that wire for a/c or something your car is not equipped with but might be wired for?
-
r/y maybe for one of the water temp sensors.
The hose ...MAP?
-
yeah hose is deff map sensor. just came from junk yard.
-
yes thats the hose for the MAP sensor, the plastic bit in the middle is a filter to stop inlet gasses contaminating the sensor.

Thanks for the replies! I will admit, that I'm not as familiar with this motor as I'm with my Toyotas (22RE and 4AGE).
CONNECTOR:
I thought the connector would be for AC as well, which mine does not have. I can't get my big o head under the intake plenum to see if it goes to anything.
So I'm still confused it this is for an injector if it runs, (Does not run well) I'm not even sure where the injector connector is?
VACUUM LINE:
As for the other vacuum line, with the filter, I assume it should be hooked to the MAP sensor, and not to anything else on the other end?
Can you switch the EGR and TBI vacuum lines? (they the same size?, I will have to double check this since I'm not all familiar which EGR and TBI lines are in question.)
I plan on soaping everything up and see if any bubbles or engine stumbling occurs.
As stated before it starts up, but it idles real rough, then I have to bring it up in RPMs to keep it running otherwise it will die.

The TBI engines do run like crap if the MAP vacuum is not connected
stumble and rich exhaust
-
The vacuum line goes to the MAP sensor that mounts to the firewall, next to the battery. The MAP sensor is both an electrical sensor and a vacuum sensor, so if one or the other, or both, isn't hooked up, then the engine will run crappy.
The white connector with the red and yellow wire looks like the backup light switch. There should be a pigtail coming from a switch on the drivers side of the top of the tranny that connects to this connector.
Depending on the year, the injector connector is either built as part of the TPS connector, or it is by itself.

Did the light bulb ever come on so bright while reading your replies (Felt like an idiot). Connected the vacuum line to the MAP sensor and connected the backup light switch. Everything is running great (Except my leak new thread on that one)
Thanks guys for all the info!
