Title: tracker 1.6 8v, trans and t/case in a samurai?? (yes I did a search)
Post by: Jluck on April 26, 2011, 03:07:49 PM
this might be where I show my retarded side :-[ but I couldn't find any good results.

I am thinking about picking up a motor/trans/t-case-less sammy and also have a lead on a 90 tracker. (1.6 8v)

heres the big Q;  ???

what does it take to put the whole assembled tracker motor/trans and t-case in to the samurai?

if this is something I could do in a couple days until I can afford a crazy-ass build on the sammy I would consider doing it. I want a loaner rig around here and this might just fit the bill. :D

It'd be less work to just pick up the 90 tracker and put a sammy axle under it.  Fabbing suspension mounts is probably easier than engine/trans/t-case mounts

Or, maybe I'm just biased because I think sas'ed trackkicks are awesome  8)

Are the motor mounts different from the original 1.3 to the 1.6 8v?  And the tracker is rusty and I really want a Sammy next. ;)
Also: my audikick will be my sas'd trackick. Sooner or later

well I looked and still came up short (I know...I know...). all I found was 16v stuff and going to a sammy trans. I just want to flop in a assembled tracker set. (motor,trans,t-case) and go.

I even spent a few minutes on "the other zuki" forums looking.....I feel dirty and need to shower now. :P

I'm a thinkin that there will be some tunnel clearance issues but that should be it?????????

I remember that there IS a need for tunnel "helping" unless you run a B/L.

Hmmm good idea JLuck.  It will provide a shorter overall powertrain and give you a longer rear driveshaft.  Which would be good if you plan to go sky-high...or make an excellent choice to install a doubler (OTT or otherwise)!
