I finally completed a long motor build and got it installed this weekend. I livened up my 8v with a .020 bore, .010 crank grind, shaved a little off the head and topped it all off with a high torque cam from Colt Cams in Vancouver. I've replaced the air box with a K&N type cone filter and have a low restriction 2" exhaust. This thing pushes 32x11.5 tires like it was stock now. ;D ;D ;D I'm afraid to open it up for a while to see what it'll really do until I get some miles on it and everything seats in proper but early indications are very impressive :o

Wow dude, that sounds cool. Any pics? Keep us posted on what goes down.

I have a couple pics but need to get them developed today, then figure out how to post after that ???
-
There are many threads explaining how to post pics, it's not to difficult.

Thanks Kreg :) I'm such a friggin dummy when it comes to puters :-[

That is awesome man. I'm interested in the increase of performance that you have!

I was just wondering how much of a difference from the air box and how do I check what size of exhaust I have? Thanks,

Sounds like a great build up on the engine. I'm hoping to find a donor engine to do a rebuild much like what you did with yours.
-
That's really slick looking... I dig it. Why didn't ya paint it to match your kick?
I've got a spare engine sitting in my parts Tracker... makes me want to go rebuild it now and make it all purty like that ;D

Great job.
Question for everybody here;
Does pulling hot air from right above the exhaust manifold hinder performance at slow speeds?

sorry to say, but that manifold ruins the hole look of the engine. if you get a header then it will look wicked sweet.
P.S. i love the cover plates for the strut towers.

pulling hot air does hinder performance a little bit. It isn't going to be anything that you would really notice since you are going slow anyway ;D
-
I had my filter on there like that for a few weeks... not too noticable, since it seemed to flow a tad more anyway...

The filter made a very significant increase in power and a little better mileage. Measure the inside diameter of your tailpipe, probably 1.75 inch

I'm saving up my pennies now to get a header, kinda blew the budget on the motor, got none left now :'(

Looks good.

Hey Biker looks good. I have seen you running around a few times lately. I have a feeling I'm located just down the road from you so I thought I would register here and say hi instead of just lurking. Its good to see some local content.

LOOKS GREAT ! DAMN THAT MOTOR LOOKS REAL BIG ..OUT OF THE TRACKER ......... ::)
-
Thanks for the compliments guys :) It seems to be a strong runner so far. ;D Hey Ian where do you live? What trail is your sig pic from, looks like fun
-
Wow, I didn't know there was a LWB Sammy in Namiamo.
Well met Ian.
p.s. I live in Chemainus.

I'm in Cedar, I don't like to post too much more about where I am with the amount of 4x4 vehicle theft going on around here lately. The pic is from Tzuhalem in Duncan. That was a couple of years ago. The LWB is currently in the frame off stage with all new body panels waiting to go on. Hopefully it will be back on the road later this summer. I'm itching to try out the new tcase gears that I put in.

remember to take it EASY for the first 500 miles, change the oil again ( I hope you changed it after you broke the cam in??) and try to drive it normal

No worries, I'm being gentle with it and changing the oil like I should. I can't afford to do this twice.
Hey Ian, if you know where my house is stop in and say hi, always up for talking Zuk ;D
