I recently bought a Samurai with Land Rover Discovery Axles under it. There is still a bunch of work to be done to this rig starting with the driveshafts as there is no front and the cobbled together rear shaft looks like it can snap at anytime. My question is would it be better to have custom drive shafts made for this setup (welded rear/open front) or trash what has been done so far and find a set of Toyota axels and driveshafts with the proper flanges. In the future I would like to add a locker for the front and possibly the rear in my extra open rear 3rd member to replace the welded one but they seem to be pretty expensive for the Land Rover differentials with rather limited choices. So what do you think?
Also I am located in Greenville ,SC. Anyone know where I might get driveshafts made locally as it may be the cheapest route for now?
Thanks in Advance for any help, info or Suggestions

I'd vote for getting the Toyota axles if you're going to stay fairly large and want to wheel it hard. The Disco axles are not very tough at all... Another idea is that there is a company that actually loads the Disco axles with Toyota parts... Maybe that'd be a way to go?
But as far as lockers and beefing up the Disco axles, it's expensive and the end result is so-so.
Hope that helps, Eric
