First off I apologise for the Heep pics. it seems some of the family has gone to the dark side....
Well this was the maiden voyage for the Audikick and if I would have known the severity I may have chosen a little wimpier trail to start with for a shake down run.
the Mcgrew trail is in southern Oregon and dips in to no.cal just a bit. It was towards the end of the Oregon trail and really gives you some perspective on what the people of the Oregon trail really endured. the trail is 20 miles long of rough road only broken up by serious rock gardens. we wheeled the upper and lower Mcgrew trails is one day and some other local wheelers kinda thought we were nuts for doing so.
The Audikick I have to say for all the work I have done and changes it worked really well over all with a handfull of bugs to work out. here's a bullet point type list.
motor.
the power is great even with only getting 60-70% out of it. I could pull passes at a easy 70+ and even did one at 82 mph.
cooling
I never saw the needle get over 192 degrees that was even crawling rocks at 1 mph in low range or pulling interstate passes (albeit the ambient temp was pretty low).
gearing
SUCKS.... the factory t/case low is crap. I see why everybody changes them. and I'm running 2900 rpm at 70mph in 5Th gear.
the drive
it drives very nice even at high speeds.

and I'm sure some are wondering.....I broke nothing. I am shocked! I tried! the only real PITA was the roof rack. (kinda expected it once the trail started).I never had to pull a winch line, all went incredibly smooth.
fuel mpg not good! not at all. I hope it has to do with the tune and I'm sure 4 solid hours off 3k+ rpm didn't help nor having a huge brick on the roof. I did about exactly what the Heep's did for mileage until off road where I did alot better. ;D
ability this little rig goes like nothing I have ever owned! it crawled everthing like it wasn't there except a hill climb around camp that my front tires were lifting off the ground when rolling backward down after failed attempts. no jeeps would even try!
oh yea....if your interested in this trip. google Mcgrew trail and sourdough camp ground. its a primitive camp that has some of the funnest wheeling and scenic trail just getting to camp.

just some good ole poser pics.....

I think a old bridge was there.
-
did you have to cross the river there? or is it a bridge to no where?

Awesome trail.... Thanks for sharing the pics... Now I'm wanting to to exploring.

Our "Bunch" sometimes have "Exploring" theme in mind for our Trail Route Plan;
I also seen the concrete "Block",
My thought that Oregon was and is "Big Timber" country, and it could have been from
an old "Slough" or a "Jack Pole" counter weight to move logs.
We find all sorts of "Stuff" left over from old logging operations when they Harvested the Giant White Pines
here in Wisconsin in the 1860's thru the early 1900's on our Off Road Adventures.
Also, FYI Wisconsin was a huge Mining state up until the open pit mining of Iron in Minn.
And we were the largest supplier of Lead during the mid 1800's, almost every bullet shot during the Civil War
had the lead from Wisconsin. We find these old Mining Camps Too!

that was near camp so we didn't bother crossing. I wanted to winch down the cliff backwards and go check it out (the road kept going on my gps) the other people didn't seem to like my idea. ::)

ya I have had water half way up my wind shield and suckered in some pretty spendy jeeps that were sitting in water up to their chins, and the wife's were not happy at all, most clubs that have a mix of rigs hate zuk's. Lol

Great pics, and good going on the first outing with no major issues! The turbos do seem to eat fuel at a higher rate than a normally asperated engine does, but hey, you didn't build that thing for economy or you would have left the stock engine in it right?
That scenery makes me want to trip out there even more, especially now that my daughter and grand daughter are in Portland.

I tinkered with the computer alot and got the mileage up to near 20. ;D. almost there.....

That place looks awesome!!! I have to go and check it out :)

Best I've ever squeezed outa mine is 22 on the highway at a steady 65. That's with lots of restraint, keeping out of the boost range. If I play around a lot, getting boost whenever I feel like it that mileage figure goes out the window. Your milage may vary

In my Audi with the same motor I never saw close to 20. I promise you it was me :). I dont see the reason of having a turbo if you are not boosting.
I am glad to hear how well you did with the rig.
