I have a bone-stock '87 Sammy that I got from my father-in-law. When he turned 89, he decided his beach-running days were over, and he gave the Sammy with only 61K to his daughter, my wife.
So, last weekend I was doing springtime landscaping stuff. I needed to get several bags of mulch down into the lower backyard. Usually, it's a grueling tote, one bag at a time down the stairs, or a scary wheelbarrow adventure. It's about 15 or 20 ft below the house, and years ago when the sewer needed to be replaced, they cut a pass for the backhoe. It's about a 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 slope, VERY steep. I decided to give it a try with the Sammy. Locked the hubs, put it in 4-low, and crawled down the hill. No prob! AND...same thing on the way back up! I'm thrilled! I can drive up and down the hill the kids use for sledding in the winter. I'm amazed at what a stock Sammy can do.

Yep, welcome to the club. You will find that the little Samurai has a big heart. Even stock they are an amazing off road vehicle.
I actually had dinner on Sunday with a marketing executive that worked in getting dealer networks for the new (at that time)Suzuki Samurai. He repeated to me the history lesson we all know about the demise of the Sammi. It is interesting to note that he did not have the same enthusiasm that I did on the Samurai. I guess at some point it just becomes another "car" if you are in the business. Oh well.
Anyway, you will have many years of fun in your little rig, welcome to the board also.

"Even stock they are an amazing off road vehicle." I concur.
No surprise on the marketing executive. Like you stated, it was just another product for him.
