So the motor in my 95 Geo tracker blew up and I'm tired of fixing it. Got a whole motor tranny powerplant ready to drop in. My friend has a 99 vitara with a 5speed. Mine is a five speed. Now I know the Geo tranny is built with a manual cable clutch and the vitara is made with the hydraulic clutch. But other than this is there a difference. Can we swap my tranny into the vitara. Maybe leave the bell housings original and swap tranny and tcase. His is ruined BTW. Is there anyway he can use my transmission? Thanks

anyone know? my 95 geo 5spd fit in a 99 vitara?

Not without some work. But the 2.0l from the 99 will bolt up to your 95 transmission. You just need to give Trail Tough a call and they can sell you a modified flywheel that will take the 95 clutch.

OK...I'm confused. The 2.0 will bolt up to my transmission...that's what I'm asking I guess. But in the vitara, not in my Geo. I understand the clutch differences but is that the only thing that us different? Sorry to be confusing guys.

Will it work if I put the manual clutch and cable in with it. It'll be alright if I gotta cut the tunnel or whatever.need to figure this out before I take it completely out

What are you trying to do? Put his 2.0l in your Tracker or put your 5 speed in his Vitara?
From your last statement your trying to put your 5 speed in his Vitara.

Exactly!! His tranny is dead. Mine is good. I don't need mine any longer
