Bear with me, I know evryone loves EFI, but
I have dealing with electronics in trucks, call me old school. From the research I have done to make my 1.6 (in a 94 Sammy) I would need the dizzy and a carb and take everything EFI out. Would this be correct? Also, does the ECM have anything to do with the gauges? Please feel free to post any links that would help.
Thanks

Are you trying to make the change on a 16v or 8v engine?

Oh man... you've got a '94 Samurai and want to remove the fuel injection? How about I trade you for a carburated Samurai? There were only a few thousand '94s built and they are rare.
Please don't do it but if you must.. get an intake manifold from a carburated Samurai and a distributor. Buy a off-road weber with the adapter kit and bolt it all together. Your speedo, temp guage, fuel, and idiot oil light do not go through the ecm so they'll work w/o the computer.

I'm just going through my options right now. The last guy was doing some funky stuff while swapping in the 1.6, i find it easier to start from scratch than to figure out what someone else did.
If you have a rust free sammy I might trade you.

Just curious -- what kind of issues are you having? What "funky" stuff was done or not done?

I'm not sure how he did the swap. If he used the 1.3 intake or TBI. The air intakle looks 1.3 but he said he used the 1.6. Also some other things non EFI related. I havent really jumped into it yet, been doing rust repair. When I get there I want to know as much as I can so I dont waste anytime.

I already stated in your other thread that he used the 1.3 intake. He also used the 1.3 TB, if you are wondering. ;)

I know, I remember that. The more I dig in the more I start to question everything. I expect that you are right, but unitll I start taking things apart I expect the worse. Don't take it to heart, just the way I am. I am also questioning the ECM and if it's working. The pump wasnt working even with a new relay, so I got that to deal with. I guess the "just a little rust in the back" and "just needs a fuel pump" turned into, cut the back half of the body off and start over and needs new fuel system, possible ECM replacement and figure out what goes where is getting to me.
It's all about the journey, but it's gonna feel good when it's on the road!

Ok, I just wanted to remind you of what I told you...in case you forgot. ;)
The ECM may not be any good. Like I said in your other thread, 94s usually don't have ECM problems like the 90-93s do.....but it could still be an issue. Note, that if you have to get a replacement ECM that you should get one from either a 94 or 95 EFI samurai. Because they use a couple of other sensors that the earlier samurais didn't, and if you use an earlier ECM your CEL will be on all the time.
