Title: What toy suspension is good for a dd?
Post by: joezukiaz on June 22, 2011, 11:46:20 AM
I'm thinking about doing a 1.9td swap and I heard the extra poer can snap the zuk axels and such. So instead of buying an adapter for a zuk trans and switching to a toyota I rather do it all at once. Should I use the later toyota models like 86-93 axels or the pre 85? Or can I use 4runner axels? Remember I'm not a rock crawler I will only do easy trails and use it as a DD

Is this for a Sammy or Tracker?  And are you looking for the best or most affordable?  :)

Sammi sorry. I'm looking for what will get the job done and not have to redo it. What are my options?

don't worry about having too much power, the VW TD's don't make anywhere near that kind of power. (even built ones).been there done that, and I have driven more than one. :)

K even when tuned I don't have to worry about snapping unless I do major rock crawling right?

I cant say it will never happen but its just as likely with a sick 1.3 as a VW diesel. they don't make impressive power in a Suzuki. don't be shocked after dumping 5K to get the diesel in there that you still cant pass a Amish buggy.

Even with rock crawling it all depends on how your drive it.  I ran for years without breaking an axle with 33x12.5 on stock Sammy axles.  A buddy with lower gears and smaller tires would break his on a regular basis.

What size tires are you looking to run and what type of wheeling do you do?

Everyday driving and an occasional dirt trail. Looking a 32's or 33's

For that going to Toyota axles would probably be a waste.  Stock Suzuki axles will hold up without an issue.
