Title: So I am trying to identify the enigine in my Sidekick.
Post by: Aimsmall on June 26, 2011, 07:42:26 PM
So the 89 Sidekick I picked up has this engine in it and when I looked at my repair manual I have this engine looks nothing like any of them in the book. So hopefully one of you may be able to tell me some info.

It's a 1.6 8V engine, but it looks like a newer intake on it, like a 91 or 92
but that makes little difference.

Well that is some good news, because the guy I bought it from thought is was a 1.3 and I was not sure. Not the 16V, but I will take what I can get. Thanks for your help Wild.

The 1.3L only came in the very early Sidekicks, and were carbureted, so
it is not likely that, but if you ever find one, get the gears too, they are rare
5.62 ratio and are worth some $$

You can also look on the drivers side of the engine, right on the bell housing
mount portion, it will have the size cast into the block
