My 93 Tracker has the Check Engine Light ON. Jumped the B and C terminals and the CEL stays illuminated. According to the Chilton manual, if this occurs and no Code 12 is indicated, it means the CEL circuit is bad.
Has anybody else had this happen and was able to fix it? Many months ago, I had I checked the CEL and got a code 12, so at one time it did work.
The only thing I can think of that may have effected the CEL circuit, was when I pulled and reinstalled the motor to replace the rear main seal (a little over a 2 months ago, and the CEL just came ON 3 days ago.)
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Maybe reset the nag switch?

Ya, what is your mileage? The CEL will come on and stay on as
a way of saying "go to the dealer" and get a service, usually at
or around like 50K or 75K or 100K miles.
I used to just ignore my light seeing as I never could find that |removethispart|@%#$^|removethispart|@
switch no matter how hard I looked for it, eventually the light "gives up"
and goes out, but would take like 8 or 9 thousand miles

That's what my problem was. It all worked fine once I found the NAG switch. What a PITA. I couldn't flash codes or anything because it just stayed on. Sounds exactly like what I had.

It's a low mileage engine (+170,000). To be honest, this motor runs like a sewing machine. I never heard of the nag switch. I guess I will see if I can find it.
Thanks,

It's probably at the nag you to take it to the dealer stage on the odometer
Not to worry, it's just a nag

I had the same problem with my 93 Zuke Sidekick until today. Had a reply to find and flip that switch and then install the jumper to read the codes. It worked great and I got my code. I have never seen this PITA switch before on any vehicle I have owned.
