I have a 1994 samurai that wont create spark at plugs. I have had it running but it has sat for a while and now it wont do anything Ican get a code 41 but dont know where to start I have tested igniter and noise suppressor and to the best I can tell are good. any suggestions????? I did replace all caps on computer circuit board also but still no spark. thanks for the help

What engine do you have in that Samurai? The original engine in the Samurai would have been a 1.3, but many have had the 1.6 from the SideKick swapped in.
Going from memory, the igntion on the stock Samurai 1.3 is pretty much "self contained" in the distributor and the ECU just controls fuelling - so there are no ignition related ECU codes.
On the other hand - the SideKick - that will give you a code 41 for an ignition failure which can be caused by several things - noise filter, ignitor, coil, distributor and wiring.
Edit
OK - now that I can check stuff - looks like the 90~95 Samurai was TBI with a setup similar to the 1.6 - so the stuff I've listed for the 1.6 needs to be checked - you've done the ignitor and the suppresor - that leaves the coil, the distributor and the ECU itself.
Put a voltmeter (or a scope if you have access to one) on the coil negative and crank the engine - there should be +12V pulsing to 0v there - with a volt meter it should show +12V when you're not cranking and drop lower when you are.

Ok after further testing I am not getting power from computer to igniter fsm says replace ECM anyone know if it can be repaired or a work around for it
-
You might pull the top off the ECM and look for bad caps and repair
any damaged traces that you find, 94 computers are not known for
having bad caps, but it might be a place to start before you replace it

thanks wild but the cap have been replaced and still no luck I am tempted to drop the 16 v in it but hate to mess up a stock efi unit
-
I caught that when I re read your first post.
Are you sure the replacements are in correctly? Did you
have ignition problems before you replaced them?

As you have had the ECM out, have you checked your grounds? It is easy to miss a ground connection, and has the same effect as no power. The computer can't ground signals to pull/engage relay's in.

Everything else seems to work. The fuel injection is working just not getting voltage to igniter. I talked to a guy on eBay about repairing it I just want to make sure the computer is bad before spending the cash. ???

Have you tried turning it over with the jumper in the diagnostic socket and checking for codes then, maybe the cam sensor is faulty.
-
I don't think there is a Cam sensor on his engine, crank maybe if it's a 16V
-
Have you opened up the ECU "AFTER" the ignition issues surfaced(cant tell from your posts). The Mitsubishies had issues with caps in the ECU during the same year time frame and many a capacitor was replaced with very similar results as what you are currently seeing. I have found solder spatter, incorrectly installed caps, fried/damaged board traces, cold solder joints etc causing mayhem!

It may not be called a cam sensor but it's there - in the distributor - without it, the ECU would not know when to fire the ignitor.

Thanks for all the input but i finally sent the ecm out to a guy in Mn to check it out and fix it, but to answer your question about the caps... I did have them replaced at an electronics repair place but who knows if there may have been a bad one in the new batch so we will see what happens when i get it back I will keep informed as to what it might be for future reference.
