Does anyone know what an 88.5 samurai came with for front and rear axle gears? It's a 5-spd. Thanks guys
-
All 86-95 samurais come with 3.727 (most people call them 3.73) gears.

Is there a standard transfer case gear ratio as well? Or is there a tag / identifing marks to tell?

Samurai tcases have a 1.409 high ratio and a 2.268 low ratio.

Ok cool i had thought about puting 4.10's in it but that might be just tooo low for the street more the highway. Anyone have 4.10's in theirs?

3.73's to 4.10's is hardly any difference at all. are your tires oversized? you might need way lower to see any useable gains.

I have 33's right now and it's pretty balless. I figured with lower gears and taller tires it would help a little

lower gears will definitely help you. especially with 33's. you just need way more of a change than one gear set (3.73's-4.10's). I would be looking in 5.12's that will get your rig back to near stock performance.and you can find those thirds from sidekicks pretty readily. :)

Sidekicks had 5.12's factory? Whats my top speed gonna be you think?
-
Yep, all 16v 4doors had them and maybe others. And I don't know about "top speed" maybe 60 ish. If that's the priority the higher gears might suit you better. I thought you were looking to restore lost power from the bigger tires.

gearing calculator here : http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html (http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html)
you can compare two different setups at the same time on here too.

Cool thanks. Top speed isn't a big deal. It's not exactly a highway mobile
