Hi guys,
This may be a silly question, but... has anyone considered changing out the GV's rack and pinion setup for a steering box? Is this even possible without going SAS? :P
I'm not a big fan of the rack and pinion in this thing, I feel like I have to spin the wheel way too much to turn. The ratio is ...weird. My Aerio's rack and pinion doesn't feel like this...
Just curious.
If you can't, because there's not enough room, I can understand.

I don't think that is a silly question. I've had the same thought, though not because the R&P feels weird. I was just thinking from the stand point of the R&P wouldn't work for SAS. I think SAS would require a steering box. Steering box under the IFS... I suppose it is doable. Space under there is a big problem.

If all that's bothering you is "having to spin the wheel way too much" maybe an inline "quick steer" gearbox would solve the problem.
I've never driven anything other than rack & pinion (well - never owned) so it feels perhaps "normal" to me, other than being rather low geared - which translates to "having to spin the wheel way too much" - I have noticed it, but it's not a big issue for me, since it relates to where/how I park the car in the evenings, which involves backing into the drive way whilst going from full right lock to full left lock and then back right within no more than twenty feet of travel.
