my head is warped about .015.( or was it .0015).
my future plans are to turbo the engine. it will stay na for a while though
I have not done the math to see what my compression ratio will be. I wanted to check here first about shims or copper head gaskets availability. I also don't want to cancel my options when I go to lower the compression further down the road.

.0015 would be fine, 1 and 1/2 thousandths but the other is 15 thousandths
and is out of spec
Find a shop that will work with you and just clean up the warped head and not do
a clear cut pass over the whole surface, most are just too lazy or in too much of a
hurry and don't care about just shaving a 20 off to get it done.
The stock compression is fine for turbo up to about 10 PSI, but you will need forged
pistons if you go over 5 PSI. Now you have to figure out if this head will be serviceable
for turbo use, depending on what they need to shave off to clean it up. You might need
another head and just run this one as a higher compression na head before you do the
turbo build

I possibley mis heard where to put the decimal. he did mention that gm recommends no more than .08 or .008. he made it seem like it was a lot though.

Okay had a few to dig around on the net.
I am pondering having the .015 shaved off, I am still trying to determine the compression ratio i would end up with. Seems the 16v heads are a tad tough to find (aka pricey). I would prefer to make this head work and not race around to find a replacement and end up paying more. Eventually I may find a good deal for my turbo setup.
I did find a .020 spacer for the G16 for $30.00

This would actually end up lowering compression a tad. I have not found the specs to punch in a calculator to determine compression on either option thus far. I had rather be higher compression but I dont want valve contact or have to run 200 octane!

15 thou isn't going to raise your compression too much
but it might go up a point or two

this type of point 0.1 or this type 1.0? the latter could start making real differences.

I assumed it was just a 'stock' image, non specific. It lists the correct engine.

Stupid decimals!!! I did catch "thou" tho so with rebuild I may be around 9.7 give or take
What should i bore the block to .020? Is .040 going to reduced the engine life by a lot or give me cooling problems?

I think the 16V is around 9.0 or 9.1 similar to the 8V
so you would be looking at 9.3 or 9.4 ??? anyone have
the CCs available, I measured and I thought it was in the
25cc range but I don't remember

Ah, and I may have mis read or mis remembered but I thought the 16v was 9.5 to 1

You might be right, but still a few points higher will be OK for turbo,
but to get the most out of a turbo setup you should target 8.something
not 9.something

Ya agreed. Its too bad the budget isnt there to go to turbo right away. Although it wont take gobs of money, we will run na for some time.
