The EGR valve on my 4 door kick is 100% full of the black stuff(carbon i would guess) and i just heard that it may cause the engine to run poorly. we don't have emissions testing around here. Has anyone had a problem with this before?

Yes it can and personally, not yet.

It might heat up your cat a little bit when letting off the gas coming down a big hill, but other than that I would not worry too much about it.

I had the same thing happen with my 88 samurai. 110,000. It kept stalling out and I took off the EGR and it was full of carbon. I don't know if that caused the stalling, but after I cleaned it, I ran nice.. I had to buy a new gasket for teh EGR $0.65 at NAPA

i've got a 1995 geo tracker 16 valve, my tracker was running shitty,Couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. Then one day on my way to class the egr melted.
It still ran but poorly. Got a new one then it ran fine.

well i don't need to worry about the cat getting hot(wink wink) so i think i'll just leave it alone.
