I was thinking about putting this extra XL-7 front in my kick but don't suspect the newer cv's will just bolt right in i.e. (same legnth) and mine is a early kick with the 23 (?) spline cv's
any insight would be good thanks.

Your DS should work fine, but you will need the PS from the 95-99 years (with larger splines). That is what I am using in my shop built front conversion. Measure the housing and go from there.

DS= drive shaft?
PS= power steering? why would steering need changed? what about CV's? did you use newer kick ones or did the XL-7 ones fit? or was yours a full custom job? I will have to go look again, its been a while.

I think he meant DS= drivers side and P= passenger side as far as the CV's.

that makes more sense! ;) thanks

Bentparts is right. Sorry for confusing abbreviations. Mine is a converted Samurai rear diff, which has the higher spline count of the 95-99 Tracker (I find the hard way of doing things. Shop Built = homemade). The drivers side axle has the 3 bolt flange for the CV so it is fine, the passenger side axle/cv combo needs the higher spline count requiring the 95-99 CV's. If you measure from the axle housing on PS to the axle flange on DS, and it is same as your tracker, it should fit with the 95-99 CV on Passenger Side. 99+ they widened the vehicles and CV lengths changed.
Mounts might be different, but you should be used to that by now.

I think the XL7 front is similar to the GV, my 2000 GV's front CVs are ~1.5" longer than the CVs on my 1st gen Sidekick.
