Hey everyone,
I got a 2003 Chevy tracker and having problems with the tranny. 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears make a bad grinding noise. 4th gear works and sounds perfect but it slips out of 5th gear while cruising. I was told my tranny is taking a shit. I have a tranny out of a 93 Geo tracker and was curious if it is compatible with the newer style tracker. I was just wondering if the tranny is going bad and should attempt to get it rebuilt or just buy a new or used one and swap it in. I was really hoping to hit up the dunes a few more times this summer. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you'll find that the 03 uses a hydraulic clutch setup while the 93 uses a cable clutch. You may be able to use the internals, the cases appear pretty similar otherwise.
