Title: Adding Factory Cruise to '92 Kick
Post by: Sundance58301 on August 01, 2011, 01:56:28 PM
I recently picked up a 1992 Sidekick JX and just got done repairing
the drivers side rockers.

It has the 16v engine with 5 spd.

I would love to add factory cruise and have a few questions.

Is the '92 a drive by wire??

I see column switch's and modules on the bay and am wondering
do I just need the switch and module?

Any input would be great.

I can live without A/C, power windows/locks....... but cruise?? No
way. I often drive a 400 mile trip and need the cruise.

Thanks. And I love this little rascal.

No, it's not a drive by wire system, you need all the hardware
that goes under the hood, and probably some other goodies

Thanks

So I need........

1. The column switch

2. Cruise control module

3. Control unit with cables

Anything else anyone??

The reason I ask is that OEM components total up to far cheaper
than an aftermarket unit. (so far)

Good luck finding all the factory parts.  I haven't seen factory cruise on too many trackicks.
There is the whole multifunction switch assembly, a dash on/off switch, the under hood module and probably some sort of control box somewhere.
The good thing is, if you can find everything there is a good chance the wires for it will be there already, so it might be plug and play.
