Well, I cut into the Rocker boxs on my 88 to get some virtual lift a couple weeks ago, and low an behold I found a wallet, pair of ray-ban sunglasses, and a ray-o-vac flashlight in there. All the papers in the wallet were from 1988 and still in good condition - social sec card, birth cert card, credit card, bank card, insurance card etc etc. Pretty sure I found the original owners stuff and he lived in Alabama. The Ray bans are still mint, looks like they came strate off the set of Top Gun lol
My first question is, how on earth would that stuff end up lost inside the rocker boxs....

Maybe you found 007's stash ?!!!
It was His new secret Identity ?!!!!

LOL right on
But really.....is there no access to the interior of the rocker boxes in any way shape or form without cutting?
Ive gotta know how they ended up there.
i found the wallets owner, now 42 yrs old - was 19 at the time - living in Pensacola Fla and am mailing it all back. He bought the rig new outta high school and sold it when he went into the army...
-
Why don't you ask the wallet's owner how he got it in there, he might of
been trying to hide it, seeing it's not a very secure convertible, like when
he went to the beach or something
-
Thats neat. A fun find for sure. I would be wondering the same thing.
Maybe they can fall inside the body in the back bedside area and work their way down.
-
If you would drop something down in where the seat belt retractor goes, it would go down into the rocker area.
I think it could also get there from the front speaker area.
-
I left a note for the guy in the box, and hopefully will call me when his wallet arrives..
I think you guys are on to something....either he was using the seatbelt panel or speaker as a hiding place and forgot about it (or it jiggled down too far to reach) - or at some point the speaker was removed and it bounced into the hole somehow from the little storage tray right under the passenger side front speaker.
I will update when I find out more
-
Well the wallet arrived to its owner on Friday...
He called me Saturday to tell me how much he appreciated sending it back. He had fond memories of the Zuki, and went on to tell me some stories about having it up on two wheels a couple times and getting it stuck in a ditch once.
He recognized his wallet and ray-bans immediately, but couldnt remember when he lost them, or why. After some discussions, we narrowed down the possibilities a bit. - At one point as a senior in High School he bought a nice aftermarket pull out tape-player and speakers. One time at a party the stereo stuff got stolen, and the bad guy wrapped all the cords around the radio and just ripped the dash out. We Surmised that maybe he stuffed the wallet inside the speaker hole after he pulled out the cash and then took off. Who knows....
-
That makes sense, He would of thought the wallet was stolen and never tried to look for it
