Title: Quick question, transmission bolts...
Post by: mrdezyne on August 04, 2011, 09:00:22 AM
I need to pick up a few bolts today so I can mount the 1.6 swap motor on my motor stand.  Can anyone tell me what thread that bolt is?  Seems to be metric and I think a 3.5" length will work for my stand bracket but I need to know the thread so I can swing by and pick some up on my way home... Thanks!!

FYI
for mounting the 1.6 on an engine stand for rebuild or re-seal, 12 x 1.25 is the bolt you will need but use a 3" length instead of a 3.5".  One side the bolt seems to thread on through the case but on the other side the threads are not cut all the way through so you need a shorter bolt.  3" should do it.

Yeah, one side will rub the block, when it comes all the way through the hole, but the other side just barely clears the block, IIRC.  If you happen to find, or get, too long of a bolt, just throw some washers under the head of it, to keep it from coming all the way through.
