Title: ratcheting , clicking sound

but only when in gear and letting off the gas. changed out the loose u-joints, but this is a different sound. Very specifically metaliic. accelerating no sound, motoring along, no sound. just when I let off. Clutch in-no sound. any suggestions? 1987 Sammi. have not heard this one before. tranny? transfer case?

put the transfer case in neutral and go through the gears and give it gas and let off the gas and see if you can reproduce the noise.

Sounds like throw out bearing.
