Title: Jumping T-Case
Post by: Sami88 on May 18, 2004, 11:18:02 AM
Can anybody tell me why a transfer case will jump out of 4 low?  When i bought the sami, the tcase was doing this and i had a shop look at it and they said i needed a different one.  I got a used one off of an 88 wreck and it has worked fine until a week ago.  I got stuck and the case locked up on me.  Now when you are just creeping along in 4 low, it will pop out.  Is this common?  and should i just go with an aftermarket tcase thats stronger.  My sami is stock.  Mainly i need to watch how much $ i spend.

Thanks

Bent t-case mounts /broken rubber mount bushings. Is the shifter rocking when power is applied? If so, bad bushings...

Is the t-case lever really close to the front of the body opening for the  shifter and is getting 'kicked out' when power is applied? If so, bent t-case mounts.

The part about you saying it got 'locked up' throws a bit of a curve (possible shifter sheet issue) in there but I'd check these other two items first...

Good luck, Eric
